CONVENIENT MOODS

Come.
A bit closer.
Do you remember how you used to toy around
with my fingers
while
I toyed with your heart
and we both blamed the playful moods
and
relationship faux pas?
Jealousy used to leak
like words
out of our mouths
and we soaked them all back
with our brittle lips
and dry kisses
of rehearsed attraction.
Do you remember,
how you didn’t complain
and I didn’t mention
that I notice it?

I gobbled that ‘muffin’ without coughing any this time! ๐Ÿ™‚

Sounds to me like a fairly unfulfilling relationship you had there.

Mouse has a full tum….needs a little lie ‘down’, but i don’t think he’d fit right now – lol ๐Ÿ˜‰

Another sad but beautiful poem about troubled relationships. It’s gorgeously composed but my favorite part has to be this…

    “Jealousy used to leak
    like words
    out of our mouths
and we soaked them all back
    with our brittle lips
    and dry kisses
    of rehearsed attraction.”

Troubled relationships have a plethora of sad poignant moments that must be written about.

In those “good enough for now” relationships, there is so much unsaid on both parts. I Love this part:

    โ€œJealousy used to leak
    like words
    out of our mouths
and we soaked them all back
    with our brittle lips
    and dry kisses
    of rehearsed attraction.โ€

Excellent expression. Unsettling in familiarity, beautiful in creation.

So nice to see you here, Beth. Brightens up my day. Yes, in those type of relationships, there are always so many things that are left unsaid and very often stays that way..
